The Santuario della Madonna della Salute is a place of worship of great historical and spiritual value. Located just outside the historic center of Moresco, along the road that connects Altidona to Lapedona, the small shrine according to tradition dates back to the 9th century, when some Christians from Constantinople brought a sacred image of the Virgin to save her from iconoclastic destruction.
This image was venerated as Our Lady of Health, initiating a devotion that has endured for centuries.
The small temple was renovated in the early decades of the 20th century to a design by the architect from Macerata Giuseppe Felice, and today features an octagonal plan and a dome covered with diamond-pointed ashlars, elements that recall the oriental style.
The dome and the cylindrical lantern were added in the 1940s, giving the building a distinctive appearance.
