The fresco is located in the Gothic portico, once the left aisle of the Church of Santa Maria in Castro, demolished in 1806. Despite exposure to the elements, it has retained good legibility thanks to restorations that have preserved its colors and details. Vincenzo Pagani’s “Madonna and Child” in Moresco is an emblematic example of 16th-century sacred art in the Marche region. Its setting in Piazza Castello makes it easily accessible to visitors, offering a unique opportunity to admire a Renaissance masterpiece within a striking historical and architectural context.
